Byzantine style for events
Following a recent buying trip to Istanbul, founder and director of The Pop-Up Dining Room Jennie Stogdon acquired a taste for the Byzantine and some inspiring new props to dress the marquee.
‘I now have a hand block printed lining inspired by a wall in a mosque. I sketched my own design based on some photos I took. The ceiling has a floral rose printed on it from which hangs a sumptuous lantern light – one of several I purchased on the trip.’
Jennie’s amazing lights form a centre piece and most certainly a talking point. Having worked most recently for the House of Hud which own The Arabian Tent Company she is also more than equipped to drape the marquee in any fashion your heart desires.
A Turkish theme adds a fun twist to any event. Ideas for décor can include low tables with lamps, sofas, rugs and floor cushions for casual canapés or a sit down dining table with jewel bright textiles and crockery, which form a beautiful Eastern tablescape.
If you don’t fancy the idea of a whole Turkish meal you can simply serve some accent dishes such as fresh Focaccia bread with dip, olives, an Eastern side salad or tea in small glasses.
